Brandi Amara Skyy is a one-of-a-kind experience.

She is an award-winning writer, drag artist, and artivist who empowers her fellow queer, POC, and Othered artists to harness their otherness into their power — and powerful art.

She holds a BA Dance and an MA in Women’s Studies with an emphasis in queer and gender performance from Texas Woman’s University. Her career highlights include being named one of Dallas’ Latino leaders to watch by Latino Leaders Magazine; being featured in publications like Our Queer Art, The Advocate, GenderFork, Dallas Voice, and the nationally acclaimed Drag Queen Guide; gracing over 100 stages world-wide; judging 50+ drag pageants across the United States; touring with the Bob Marley Festival; opening up for Lady Gaga and Jon Secada, and winning the first ever Miss USofA Diva in 2014.

Her articles and essays have appeared on, Global Grind, Curve Magazine, and The Dallas Voice where she was the creator/author of the 2018 weekly social/political/pop culture column, Trending Tea, and continues to be a contributing journalist. Through her creative entrepreneurial initiatives like The Drag Show Podcast, Drag University, and the creation of online safe spaces for her female drag community, she continues to be a thought leader in the LGBTQ and creative communities.

Brandi is the author of two books, Faux Queens – Fauxing the Real: Biological Women, the Art of Drag, & Why the Real IS Drag and a self-published e-book, Be the Slay: 10 essays on how to get out of your own way & create a life, biz, art that you love! She is currently writing a trilogy of books on drag: How To Be a Drag Queen, #WeAreDrag: Female Drag Queens and the (R)evolution of Drag, and a yet-to-be-titled memoir on her desire for fame, art, and drag.

When she’s not busy trying to be her own Big Bang theory, she loves cruising, her wife and Shih Tzu named Simon, all things Miss Piggy and Lisa Frank, binge-watching TV shows she’s already watched 100 times, and being the slay she wishes to see in the world.
