How Bad Do You Want It? (The Difference Between Impossible & Unlikely)
The chance of me becoming a model? Unlikely.
The chance of me being on RuPaul’s Drag Race? Unlikely.
The chance of me becoming a Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleader? Unlikely.
The chance of me becoming a singer? Unlikely.
The chance of me NOT dying? Impossible.
See the difference?
Unlikely still breeds possibility.
Impossible is finite.
Is it impossible that one day i may be on RuPaul’s Drag Race? Perhaps as a contestant, but to actually make an appearance on the show as a choreographer, guest, or *gasp* special guest judge? Not impossible.
All these things on my list? Not impossible.
So when i say nothing is impossible, i really do mean NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Unlikely? Maybe. Impossible? No.
Only escaping death is impossible.
So if our dreams are not impossible what gives?
We just don’t want it bad enough.
i wanted to be a drag queen. Everyone told me that was IMPOSSIBLE because i was a girl. Guess what naysayers? Fully booked, nationally crowned drag queen RIGHT HERE.
The chance of me becoming, doing, and winning all these amazing drag things was highly UNLIKELY, but i wanted it more and harder than i believed it wouldn’t or couldn’t happen.
And i wanted it bad enough, so i set out to make it happen.
Everything else on my list?
Not so much.
So what we should really be asking ourselves instead of buying into the idea of living what we love is IMPOSSIBLE is this: How bad do we want it?
Do you want your dream bad enough to put your head down, silence the noise, and grind until you’ve made it?
Do you want it bad enough that you will do the work even before there is a space to showcase it?
Do you want it bad enough to allow yourself to forge forward regardless of what anyone says, does, or thinks?
Do you want it bad enough to let go of the things you no longer need to make space for the things you do?
If you don’t want it bad enough, then your dream will always remain unlikely.
But never impossible.
The choice is yours.
